All about me
As you know my name is Kate and I’m 20. I have my two furry nurses Pickle and Lily and a lovely family. I have an amazingly supportive boyfriend Matt who has stood by me for 3 years [on 5/5/17].
I thought it would be a good idea to list all my conditions so you can look them up if you want!
I use to be fitted with a Port a cath on the left side of my chest. [For more info on ports click here.] Sadly during my last bout of sepsis I lost my port and I now have a Hickman Line in my Right boob!
I was fitted with an AMT Gastro-Jejunal button. It goes through my stomach and into my jejunum and the one tube has two mini tubes inside it for each part. [It also glows in the dark] To learn more about AMT GJ tubes click here. In January however I had my button replace with a long GJ tube as my consultant believes they are better and less likely to go wrong!
Also a big change is that I no longer use my jejunal tube to feed as since January my jejunum has been severely painful which has left me with no choice but to go over to IV feed and fluid. This is called TPN [Total Parenteral Nutrition] and goes through my Hickman line into the vein.
